An important role of Tap Seac Gallery, a unit of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, is to raise the level of art creation. The Macao Annual Art Exhibition - held every year during the Macao Arts Festival - acts as a platform for visual art exchange and has become an important event for displaying Macao's new art works. Through previous exhibitions, Macao's artists have become more proficient with a large number of new talents emerging, producing art works dealing more closely with contemporary life and concerns.

In addition to the Macao Annual Art Exhibition, the "Macao Horizons - Contemporary Art Exhibition" has provided another exciting platform for art in Macao. Giving artists an opportunity to exercise their skills and their ability to use multi-media, it also brings out the importance of the presentation of connotation, the consideration of social issues and the development of different aspects of art.

The catalogue includes the twelve projects included in the "Macao Horizons - Contemporary Art Exhibition". Produced by artists of different cultural backgrounds, these works reflect their different cultural perspectives in tune with the theme of "Macao Horizons". Some of the works have adopted a cross-media approach to present the humanism which is a feature of Macao's multicultural environment, displaying the artists' own points of view and providing viewers with visual enjoyment and social inspiration.

Tap Seac Gallery will continue to organize different exhibitions and academic activities to promote artistic creativity in Macao and give artists more opportunities to exhibit. Simultaneously, Tap Seac Gallery is working to strengthen communication between art circles in different regions by co-organizing academic discussions and exchange activities, raising the standard of art criticism and theory in Macao, researching future development trends for local art, and providing fresh motivation for artistic development locally.
